Frequently asked questions
Quick answers. The guides above go deeper.
Where does the data come from?
Public App Store charts and app details for 175 countries, plus public Google Play charts for 30 countries, collected daily. We are not affiliated with Apple or Google.
How accurate is the revenue?
It is a model, not a measurement. We show a range and a confidence label, and say "No estimate" when the data is too thin.
Is it okay to build on what I find here?
Yes, as your own product. Reports show what users complain about so you can build something different and better. The prompt asks for a different product and forbids reusing a name, icon, screens or text. Apple's rules don't allow lookalikes either.
Who can create reports?
Every free account gets 1 trial report. Pro members create up to 30 a month. Anyone with a free account can read the sample reports.
What do I see without an account, with a free account and with Pro?
Without an account: Charts first 10 rows · Rising 3 · Zombies 3 · Small & simple 3 · Gaps 1, with 7 days of rank history. Free account: Charts 25 rows · Rising 5 · Zombies 10 · Small & simple 5 · Gaps 3, plus 1 trial Anatomy report. Pro: full lists, 90-day rank history and 30 Anatomy reports a month.
Is Google Play covered?
Yes. We track Google Play charts in 30 countries: rank, install range and rating. The two stores stay on separate pages and are never mixed. There is no revenue estimate for Android, only install ranges. Rising, Zombies and Gaps open on Android as enough history builds up.
How fresh is it?
Charts refresh once a day. Each list shows its date.
What is apptomy?
apptomy is a web tool that reads the daily App Store charts of 175 countries and Google Play charts of 30 countries and shows rising apps, abandoned popular apps, cross-country gaps, small and simple apps, estimated revenue ranges and Anatomy reports on user complaints. You can also follow apps on a watchlist.
How is the revenue estimated?
Apple does not publish revenue. We convert an app's Top Grossing rank into a monthly gross revenue range with a calibrated curve, scaled by country and category, and we label the confidence. Details are on the methodology page.
What is the small and simple score?
A 0-100 score that favors apps a small team could build: a developer with few charting apps, a modest number of ratings, a small download size, a paid or freemium model and steady demand across charts.
