What is the small & simple score?

A 0–100 estimate of how realistic an app is for a small team to build.

An app gets the small & simple badge when its score is at least 65, its developer has at most 2 apps in the charts over 30 days, and it has fewer than 10,000 ratings from a major store.

Key points

  1. 1

Developer size (25 points): the fewer apps the same publisher has in the charts, the higher the score.

  2. 2

Rating count (20 points): apps with few ratings look beatable.

  3. 3

Download size (10 points): lighter apps are easier to build. Games get a wider allowance.

  4. 4

Price model (15 points): paid and freemium apps show that people pay.

  5. 5

Demand (30 points): best rank, number of countries and whether the app is in a Top Grossing list.

The score cannot know the real team size. Treat it as a pointer, not a promise.
